Week Two Challenge

Halfway through week two!

How is everyone doing so far? Still got your motivation? It was my birthday weekend so I lost some of my focus as I followed cake around for a few days. It is Monday morning though, and I am back on track. Ok, I lie. I had leftover birthday cake for breakfast...but NOW I am back on track ;)

This week's challenge is to drink 64 oz of water daily.

FUN WATER FACTS

By the time a person feels thirsty, his or her body has lost over 1 percent of its total water amount.

The weight a person loses directly after intense physical activity is weight from water, not fat.

Good hydration can prevent arthritis. With plenty of water in your body, there is less friction in your joints, thus less chance of developing arthritis.

Drinking enough water everyday can help reduce heart disease and cancer. Water helps flush toxins out of your body, and the fewer toxins that come into contact with your colon, bladder, and other organs, the less chance that critical ailments can develop. Some mornings there is a greater need for toxin flushing than others.

Smile. Good hydration can help reduce cavities and tooth decay. Water helps produce saliva, which keeps your mouth and teeth clean.

There is the same amount of water on Earth as there was when the planet was formed. Believe it or not, the water you drink could share the same molecules that dinosaurs drank.

Drinking water can help you lose weight by increasing your metabolism, which helps burn calories faster.

The average person could live without food for nearly a month, but we could only survive about one week without water—that’s how essential water is to human life.

75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (This likely applies to half the world's population).

In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.

Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.

One glass of water shuts down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters investigated in a Univesity of Washington study.

Lack of water is the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.

Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.

HOPE THESE HELP MOTIVATE YOU TO DRINK YOUR WATER, FEEL BETTER, AND DROP SOME WEIGHT THIS WEEK - GO, LOSERS, GO!
