Week 7 Leaderboard
With one week left to go, Flo is pulling away with the lead - can anyone catch her? The appearance of peanut butter eggs on the market in prep of Easter has pretty much crippled poor ole Rueben these last few days...not sure I, er...he...can overcome. Mmmmmm....peanut butter eggs....so yummy. Good luck to everyone still in the hunt for the money - or even just trying to reach your own personal goal - finish out strong losers!!!

Unranked: No weights turned in this week from Otis, Barney, Garth, Wanda, or Harriet.
IMPORTANT INFO FOR NEXT WEEK: Weigh-ins next week are either Wed or Thurs from 6:30 - 8:30 at my house. This is the same date and times that was given to everyone in the beginning, so everyone had lots of notice. Those will be the only times you can weigh in and still be eligible to win the money. You must wear pants and a shirt to weigh in. I don't want to look at anyone's pasty bikini skin...no cheating with shorts and sports bras...etc...wear clothes people. I think that is it...be there and be clothed. Ok, have a good week and see you next wed or thurs!!

Week 4 Challenge
Ok guys. This is a tough one.
This week you must boycott ALL JUNK FOOD.
ALL OF IT.
This includes cake and candy and chips and all manners of sugary goodness.
To meet the challenge you must do this six out of seven days. I don't know about you, but I am going to save my cheat day for Sunday. There is no way I am making it through the Super Bowl on healthy food!
Good luck!!

What 18 People Can Do
ARC Trainer = Devil
Half an hour on the ARC...rough...nothing like some Pandora 80's Cardio Rock to help power through. Thank God for "Eye of the Tiger" in those last three minutes!!
Today I hit a huge personal goal of mine to lose 20 pounds - and it feels amazing. So amazing that I think I better celebrate with some cake...

Week Two Challenge
How is everyone doing so far? Still got your motivation? It was my birthday weekend so I lost some of my focus as I followed cake around for a few days. It is Monday morning though, and I am back on track. Ok, I lie. I had leftover birthday cake for breakfast...but NOW I am back on track ;)
This week's challenge is to drink 64 oz of water daily.
FUN WATER FACTS
By the time a person feels thirsty, his or her body has lost over 1 percent of its total water amount.
The weight a person loses directly after intense physical activity is weight from water, not fat.
Good hydration can prevent arthritis. With plenty of water in your body, there is less friction in your joints, thus less chance of developing arthritis.
Drinking enough water everyday can help reduce heart disease and cancer. Water helps flush toxins out of your body, and the fewer toxins that come into contact with your colon, bladder, and other organs, the less chance that critical ailments can develop. Some mornings there is a greater need for toxin flushing than others.
Smile. Good hydration can help reduce cavities and tooth decay. Water helps produce saliva, which keeps your mouth and teeth clean.
There is the same amount of water on Earth as there was when the planet was formed. Believe it or not, the water you drink could share the same molecules that dinosaurs drank.
Drinking water can help you lose weight by increasing your metabolism, which helps burn calories faster.
The average person could live without food for nearly a month, but we could only survive about one week without water—that’s how essential water is to human life.
75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (This likely applies to half the world's population).
In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.
Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.
One glass of water shuts down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters investigated in a Univesity of Washington study.
Lack of water is the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.
Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.
A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.
Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.
HOPE THESE HELP MOTIVATE YOU TO DRINK YOUR WATER, FEEL BETTER, AND DROP SOME WEIGHT THIS WEEK - GO, LOSERS, GO!

Week One Wrap Up!
Today is the last day of Week One! Everyone should enter their weight under challengerunner.com today if they haven't already. The rankings on the site may not be totally accurate, right now it has everyone even at 0 still...so tomorrow I will post a leaderboard with your alias.
I have heard from a few people about the week one challenge - great job to everyone who made the effort this week to track their calories! If you completed the challenge just shoot me a message and I will pick a winner tomorrow.
Week two's challenge is Hydration Nation! Track your water intake all week and maintain a minimum of 64 ounces of water every day. I read a great idea about a blogger that put rubberbands around her water bottle that represented how much she needed to drink. Every time she finished the bottle and refilled it she just removed a band until she had her quota in. I thought that was a clever idea.
Hope everyone had an encouraging first week and continues to be motivated through this next week! Good luck!

It.Is.On.
Biggest Loser 2015 is off and running!
We have 18 people in this challenge that are weighed in and ready to go. Of those, 17 are eligible for the final prize, one is playing for fun. So the pot stands at $340. We have 6 men and 12 women. Our total weight as a group is 3553.7 lbs. Let's see how quickly we can drop that first 100 as a group!
This week's challenge continues to be tracking your caloric intake. I do great with this until dinner time and then I seem to think before bed calories don't count...lol...I obviously have some work to do there!
I have heard the horror stories of those of you giving up pop - keep strong!! It is great to see people making positive choices for their health. I know Coke is a super tough habit, the first couple weeks were brutal for me. I feel your pain.
I hope everyone continues to have a strong, healthy week! Can't wait to see our first set of results this week!!

Week One Challenge!
Tomorrow it all begins!! Ready?????
Our first week challenge will be to journal and track what we eat. You can make this as easy or as complex as you want. You can track it on paper on a notebook, online, or on your phone. However you do it, to accomplish this challenge you need to do the following three things:
1. Establish what your calorie goal is every day.
2. Track what you eat and drink all day, all week.
3. Meet your calorie goal at least five out of seven days.
There are MANY sites/apps for doing this. My favorite is MyFitnessPal. I have yet to eat something I can't find in their database. It also lets me set fat and protein goals, which I like. And it lets you input recipes, so if you make something at home you can still have accurate information. It has a free app for your phone so it is always with me which makes it easy to keep track.
With this, and every other weekly challenge, you can just shoot me a message at the end of the week and let me know how you did. Good luck!

Let's Kick It Off!
I am SO EXCITED about this Biggest Loser Challenge!!
While I would love to win, I am starting at a disadvantage. I actually started losing weight in December because of a misbehaving gallbladder. I had a bad attack that meant I had to not eat or drink for a few days; and then even when I did, it was cautiously. This forced 'diet' made me feel absolutely miserable, BUT...it forced me to cold turkey stop some of my bad eating habits, especially my love of Coke and fast food pizza. I decided to stick with it and have lost 16 pounds! Yeah! Of course this means I have no 'easy' weight to lose for this challenge. However, that is why I decided now was the time to do this again. I am going to hit a wall sometime soon and I need this motivation to carry me through and keep on going. I don't want to lose any momentum!
With that said, this will be my sounding board for weight loss this year. I will post things throughout the challenge and then continue after the challenge (probably). For now I will keep it mostly about our 8 week challenge.
The Biggest Loser 2015 8 Week Challenge kicks off this Wed and Thur from 6-8:30 with initial weigh-ins. Weigh-ins will always be between me and you only, unless you choose to share. At your first weigh-in I am asking that you set up your online profile with an online tracker if you haven't already. This way everyone can input their own weight weekly which will give us current rankings.
Something else I want to try this time is weekly challenges. I know some people will be doing their own thing, but from past experience I know I do better with a group experience. Also, this is about total health and lifestyle changes for many of us, so challenges will center around that. I will post the challenges here every week and link to Facebook so everyone knows ahead of time. The winner every week will get a small prize and bragging rights. These are optional but I hope many will play along so we all end this with big weight loss and healthy gains!
Feel free to share this with anyone you think would be interested, people are free to join up until Thursday night at 8:30. Good luck to everyone!
